From Vital England:

Adam Johnson and Darren Bent are both targeting regular starting places for England – I would say Johnson ‘probably’ has the better chance.

Bent, who scored his first England goal, is also looking to stamp a claim for a regular starting place, as he told sky sports, and like Johnson feels that he can if he ‘keeps doing what he does best’ at club level: ‘it is a special feeling scoring my first England goal.

‘You have got to keep your head down and keep working hard for your club, which is what we have been doing.

‘If we keep doing that then we can’t be too far away.’

I would say that Bent will find it harder to get a regular starting place, although cementing a place in the squad is something that the Sunderland man may well be able to do now…

Bent has age against him unfortunatly due to Fabio picking Heskey all the time and being out of action for so long on the bench for spurs and so he may only have this tournament as his last I hope he is given more 90 mins because he deserves more than what hes had up to date and you know he will deliver when given the chance.
