On-loan striker Nicklas Bendtner has today apologized for his car-wreaking spree in Newcastle.

The Danish international was arrested in the small hours last week along with skipper Lee Cattermole, according to reports, just yards from St James’ Park.

This latest incident rounded off a bad month for the Arsenal forward who saw his card declined in a Copenhagen pizza joint earlier in the month.

As well as giving a blow-by-blow account of his version of events, Bendtner also released the following apology via The Sunderland Echo:

“I apologise sincerely that I have allowed myself to get involved in things that are interpreted in such dramatic fashion.

“I fully assume responsibility for not distancing me from these incidents before they got out of hand. Error is mine alone and I am sorry that I have let so many people down.’

Bendtner alleges in the statement that a third Black Cat’s player was involved in the incident.
