THE FUTURE’S BRIGHT
One of the things that I like most about Sunderland football clubs current board is how open they are with the supporters. This works best in these regular interviews and website chats the club are very good at organising.
Chairman Niall Quinn & Chief Exec. Steve Walton have spoken today to the official site in a live web chat about a range of issues. They spoke about how the club is in great financial shape, that the scouting network is looking healthy and the youth system very fruitful these days. Exactly what we want to here taking us in to preseason.
Regarding transfers, one of the most interesting points was Quinn explaining that Kenwyne Jones is very much the future of the club and he expects him to have a superb season next year. That certainly knocks on the head any rumours that he is certain to leave in the summer. Good news in my view, I feel he is crucial to us. It was also good to hear that the club are very keen to tie up John Mensah for next term.
All in all, very interesting stuff, and produced more good stories than months of newspaper copy would. And one more point..how good is it that the club are so open with the fans which is completely the opposite to a certain other club not too far away!
REVIEW OF THE SEASON
Season 2009/10 will be remembered as a decent season for SAFC with some great wins and some very low points. Here’s my picks:
HIGH POINT: SAFC 1 Arsenal 0
PLAYER OF THE SEASON: Darren Bent
YOUNG PLAYER OF SEASON: Jordan Henderson
BEST GOAL: Bolo Zenden Vs. Spurs (H)
LOW POINT: Chelsea 7-2 SAFC
BEST MATCH: SAFC 3-1 Spurs
CAN’T WAIT FOR UNITED
I’m really excited about this Sunday. I always enjoy games against Man Utd and especially if you can relax and enjoy seeing if they can keep the title race alive. I feel we can really put on a show for the cameras but the result may depend on how deflated United are from the earlier Chelsea match. Next week at Wolves I’m going for a Mexican Wave ridden draw!
