BEHIND ENEMY LINES – PART 15

AMAZING TURNAROUND
I’m going to try and not be surprised by anything I see in football any more. But, the resurgent form of some of our players is amazing. Fraizer Campbell is playing like a man possessed at the moment on the right wing and for me, deserves to keep his place despite Jordan Henderson returning to fitness. Steed Malbranque is another player playing like a new signing. His quality is shining through again and he has began to up his game in other areas too, putting more effort in to tackles and tracking back more. More of the same on Saturday will do very nicely indeed. Kenwyne Jones is another player in resurgent form, and the news that his injury isn’t too serious is a massive boost. Jones was again outstanding in the first half against Man City, scoring another superb header and the opposition players will have been so relieved to see him go off injured.

HOME COMFORTS
This Saturday brings to an end our sequence of four consecutive home games. And it’s another massive game, considering our next two are trips to Villa Park & Anfield. Three points, bringing our total to 8 from 12 would be crucial, and put us within touching distance of a fourth consecutive top flight campaign. The injuries are beginning to clear up now, and with the likes of Andy Reid back in contention i’m quite confident about the game. Birmingham have been excellent this season though, and it would be dangerous to under-estimate them. A draw would be the expected result along the lines of results this season..no doubt conceding a last minute equaliser, but I’m going to stick my neck out and take SAFC to almost secure safety.

Prediction: SAFC 2 Birmingham 1

A LEGEND RETURNS
Kevin Phillips is back on Saturday, for what is sure to be his final ever appearance as a player at the Stadium of Light. It’s important to show him what he meant to us and give him a massive reception at some point in the game. He is the most exciting player i’ve seen play for the club. The highlight being his goal at Wembley in the Play Off final defeat to Charlton, closely followed by his goal at home to Chelsea in the Premier League. Goals galore from Super Kev and it would be nice for Phillips to pass the baton over to Mr Darren Bent as being the next legendary goalscorer at SAFC.

BET OF THE WEEKEND
Spurs have lost Jermaine Defoe to injury and Stoke are excellent at home. Wigan know they must win their most winnable home game against Burnley or they are in deep trouble. Take Stoke & Wigan in Saturday afternoons Premier League action.
