Just after it was reported that Phil Bardsley was a target for Fulham, it’s now being reported that the defender would rather stay at the Stadium of Light.

Speculation has it that Fulham were looking to try and pick the scorer of the gal that took Sunderland to Wembley for a bargain price of £1 million, there is no saying that the club would have let him go with him impressing more lately under the leadership of Gus Poyet.

But in any case, the People are reporting that Bardsley has said to the powers that be at the Stadium of Light that he is very happy where he is.

It’s true that Bardsley is into the last few months of his current contract, but it’s believed that Poyet would love to offer him another deal at the end of the season.

But that may well depend on what league Sunderland finish up in.
