Phil Bardsley has hit out at the performance given by the team during their 3-0 drubbing at West Brom.

The Sunderland defender has branded Saturday’s performance a ‘shambles’ and knows that if Premier League safety is to be achieved the side need to improve dramatically: ‘It was a total shambles from start to finish,’ Bardsley told the Daily Star. ‘If we’re going to survive we need to do better than that.

‘We let everyone down – the manager, the staff, the fans and it’s up to us to put that right.’

The former Man United youngsters thoughts were echoed by manager Ricky Sbragia, who also agreed that everyone had been ‘let down’ by the performance.

Sunderland have won just once in the last nine matches and are only four points above the drop zone.

Do you think that the defeat against West Brom will act as the catalyst to spur the Black Cats on to Premier League safety, or do you think there is worse to come?

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear! At least you have Chelsea at home, last game of the season, before the cup final. They’ll field a girls reserves & you may get a draw!
