Sunderland have confirmed that the signing of Spanish midfielder Arnau Riera is complete subject to international clearance.

‘We really like the look of him. He is a
creative player but he also likes a tackle. That’s what made us sit up and take notice. I think our fans will take to him.

‘Arnau is an exciting player. He has fantastic lungs, is a playmaker but can also tackle. He’s the type of player you need to be to come to Sunderland, he ticks all the boxes, he’s a fine, athletic player.

‘I’ve talked about us needing creativity and he’s a player I think will create. He comes into contention for Saturday.’

It is yet to be announced which shirt number Riera will take, but finally Quinn is making inroads to adding to a squad bereft of creativity.

  • Although I know this has nothing at all to do with the article but would just like to say that I hope you have great season and return to the Premiership. Sunderland is a massive club and the fans and people of Sunderland deserve to have a Premiership club. I’m a Villa fan but I have a lot of time for you guys you’re real fans unlike that lot at St James’ Park who were never there until Keegan returned. Once again all the best for the season and I’m sure we will be playing you again in the Premiership next season.

  • sunderland are a massive club how ya work that out lol if their a big club y they in dead lumber lol thick ba****** i mean look at the stadium of sh*** even tryin to copy the look of our stadium how sad can them scumberland supporters get

  • One things for sure I wouldn’t like to be in the Sunderland dressing room after a loss when Roy Keane comes charging in. A bull in a china shop would be like a ballerina on cotton wool by comparison.
