Sunderland have been linked with a couple of foreign imports of late, with another South American being one of them.

Valentin Roberge, Modibo Diakite and Cabral have all agreed Bosman transfers to Sunderland with Argentine Lucas Orban believed to be “on the radar” of Paolo Di Canio.

His South American countryman Ignacio Scocco is also being linked with a move to the Stadium of Light.

Currently 28-year-old winger Scocco plays in the United Arab Emirates for Al-Ain, a club familiar to Sunderland with Asamoah Gyan now playing for them, but an impressive loan spell back in his native Argentina, where he scored 27 goals in 36 games, last season has brought him to the attention of clubs.

Previously capped at international level the winger’s move to Sunderland would definitely be complicated by his wages, the UAE club are currently believed to be paying him almost £250,000 per month! So a massive drop in wages would be required.
