Arca fancies La Liga move…

Julio Arca has revealed that La Liga side Espanyol are interested in moving for the Argentine. And the Sunderland crowd favourite has admitted that he is attracted by the prospect of a switch Spain.

While Niall Quinn’s takeover is thought to be the one thing that may persuade Arca to remain on Wearside, hoping for yet another promotion to the Premiership, Arca is still expected to move on after 6 years at Sunderland.

‘As a good Argentine, I have always wanted to play in the Spanish league,’ he told COM Radio.

‘For me, it is a dream. I have spoken about Espanyol with [Javier] Saviola and Maxi [Rodriguez] and they have told me about the wonders of the club.’

While his fellow Argentines have talked up the club, the possibility of European football also attracts the former Argentinan Under-21 captain,

‘Playing in the Uefa Cup motivates me as well. The interest from Espanyol makes me very happy. I know that they have been speaking about me all week and that the problem is in the form of the payment.’

It is believed that the Catalunian club would prefer to bring in Arca on a season long loan, the versatile left-footer would prefer the security of a permanent deal, with his contract set to expire next year.

‘The best is a transfer as I finish my contract next season,’ he explained.
