Sunderland striker Duncan Watmore committed himself to the club by signing a new four year deal yesterday.

News broke on the club’s official website that the England under 21 international penned a new deal which is good news for both the club and last season’s U21 player of the season.

The youngster has six appearances in the first team to his name this season and has notched two goals.

And boss Sam Allardyce is expecting the player to go one to be one of the best.

He told the club’s website: ‘Duncan is an exciting prospect and the kind of talent you want to see coming through at your club.

‘He is a bright young man, he has a sensible head on his shoulders and if he continues to make the kind of progress we have seen this season, I am sure that he has a great future ahead of him.’
