Lille defender Adama Soumaoro is being kept tabs on by Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce if reports are to be believed.

The 23 year old has had a very good season so far with the French outfit and the Daily Mail says that Allardyce and Sunderland are very interested in him.

Soumaoro is a centre-half but is able to playing on either the left or the right also the centre of the back four, making him even more desirable to the Black Cats boss.

Allardyce is known to be looking for defenders who are a bit younger at the moment as he sets about changing his side next season and maybe getting rid of some of the older players.

Injuries have also not helped Allardyce with Younes Kaboul and Jan Kirchoff suffering their share of knocks, Wes Brown and John O’Shea will also be out of contract.

Soumaoro has made 21 appearances for his side so far this season.
