Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat saw his side slip to the bottom of the table again after this narrow defeat at the hands of Tottenham, but still looked at the positives he took from the game.

The Black Cats were worth more than the defeat, they had their fair share of the play and hit the woodwork twice.

The lads looked better than they had done in recent games with both Fabio Borini and Ola Toivonen both having good games.

Advocaat spoke to Sky Sports after the game and although he was disappointed with the outcome of the game, he has seen light at the end of the tunnel.

He said: ‘I think the crowd liked the way we played. It’s a really attractive way of playing, only we did not get the points we deserved.

‘Again with all respect to Spurs – they have a really good side, but I think one point was for us a good result.

‘If you keep going this way, you’re creating your chances, you have players who can do something in a one-on-one situation with (Jeremain) Lens and Fabio, and Toivonen – we saw some good moments, in my opinion, and that gives a good feeling.’
