Sunderland’s first piece of January Transfer Window business, loaning youngster Blair Adams out for a month to Northampton Town.

The 20 year-old left-back-cum-midfielder links up with Aidy Boothroyd’s League Two outfit for an initial one-month period.

Adams had spent the first half of the campaign away from the Stadium of Light with League One Brentford where he made nine appearances, scoring once for Uwe Rosler’s men.

Elsewhere, experienced defender Nyron Nosworthy will return to Wearside on January 3, having completed a successful three-month loan spell with Watford.

Nosworthy has made 11 starts for the Hornets to date, overseeing a run of just one defeat in that period down in Teesside against Middlesbrough.

Good luck Blair and welcome back Nyron!
