The first round of FA visits to all the potential host cities has now taken place and round two has begun. Of the original fifteen starters, all have passed the first stage and in fact, a sixteenth, Plymouth, have added their name.

Following the national media coverage from day to day has proved to be interesting. So far Sunderland seem to have got more mentions than anyone with their efforts to get the local population on board with the bid. They have, for instance, organized ‘sign up’ days at local factories where the workforce are encouraged to sign up to support their bid at http://www.2018england.co.uk/how-you-can-support.html.
